Eric and I are officially a waiting family. "Waiting", in the adoption world, means that we have been homestudy approved (approved to adopt/ be parents.. etc) and we have completed our profile key and the profile itself. Seems easy enough to the outside eye, but it's quite a process. Did I mention it's sorta stressful and pretty invasive? Twenty pages of autobiographies and interviews in front of complete strangers come to mind. The signatures on the 20/25/30/lost count forms were the easy part. Then you enter the profile phase. Which basically meant sitting in front of a computer for a couple of weeks designing profile pages. How do you put your lives in ten pages with only a paragraph max on each page?? It's not easy, and then as you're literally stapling the profile together you realize you didn't even mention that you have a job! Guess they'll have to refer to the video! Oh yeah, there was that! Needless to say we have been busy!
And now we wait.
Wait by our phones, because we have to be available with the drop of a pin in case of an emergency placement. **Emergency placement is when we are picked and the baby is most likely already born and ready to be discharged from the hospital.
Up to this point it's been a game of hurry up and wait. Now, it's just wait. We've been told this time will drive you almost crazy. After only five days I'm positive this is the truest statement I've heard. I cringe at thinking this could go on for months.. a year.. longer. Although I don't see us waiting that long, we have no control at this point.
The only thing we have control over is what we do with this time before baby! So we continue to prep our home and finish projects we won't have time for after baby, buy baby things, and read about babies. Other than that it is the only information we have. We appreciate all the support that has been shown to us! It helped us along our path and hopefully will guide us down our new path to Baby H!
